Waterloo’s New Dawn

Just four kilometres from Sydney CBD, Waterloo is enjoying an urban renewal and new residential developments are presenting as good investment opportunities. The Iconic development opposite Waterloo Park and 500m from Green Square blends the heritage of the Chubb factory built in 1921 with an industrial and contemporary edge including a plunge pool and rooftop gardens.

Waterloo’s central location in the inner city makes it an attractive place for tenants, with surrounding innercity suburbs including Darlinghurst, Chippendale, Haymarket and Surry Hills. The site also close to the University of Sydney, UTS, Moore Park and Fox Studios. With architecture and interiors designed by SJB and styling directed by Coco Republic, the design will certainly fit in well with the artistic ambience of Waterloo.

Plans lodged for West End high-rise

THE covers have come off another $60million residential apartment development planned for Newcastle’s west end.

Just a week after confirmation that the heavy rail line between Wickham and Newcastle would be removed, plans for the twin-tower, 11-storey ‘‘WestEnd Apartments’’ have been lodged with Newcastle council.

Earmarked for Charles Street at Wickham, across the road from the planned Wickham interchange, WestEnd will house 122 apartments above four commercial suites at ground level.

3D app helps new-home buyers see properties more clearly

The year has just begun and already apartment developers are moving to differentiate themselves in a host of ways, including taking steps towards showing designs in virtual reality.

A big challenge for off-the-plan buyers is imagining just what their apartment or townhouse could look like when it’s completed. But potential buyers of the Thirdi Group’s Waterloo development Iconic will have a little help – by getting a 3D view of how their new apartment and surrounds will appear.

Thirdi Group is using a phone and tablet app that will – when the promotional material is scanned – literally grow pictures of the development into 3D images on the tablet’s screen.

New development blooms in Waterloo

CBRE managing director David Milton said the new development did not increase density but rather “increased amenity, adding to the fabric of the environment”. Mr Milton said buyers were looking at Waterloo for affordability and proximity to the city.
“There is a younger demographic with professionals moving into an area with like-minded people. There’s a lot of owner occupiers, a lot of people that can’t afford surrounding areas like Paddington, Surry Hills, East Sydney – and even those coming from the north shore and going to university here. They have adopted the area and have chosen to move across the bridge.”
